I've had good luck with U.S. Radiator out of California. I've been treated well and the service was excellent. Not cheap! I ordered on the phone , not on-line. Just looked em' up again and it only shows being in Alabama. ??

Thanks for the recommendation. I assume there were no quality problems with the product or you wouldn't recommend. I looked them up. Apparently they were bought by a competitor, and the plant was moved.

Far as I'm concerned quality was excellent. I wasn't sure what I wanted and they were very helpful. But, if it's changed hands who knows...

Just curious, is there a difference in cooling performance or capacity between auto and stick radiators?

I'm not sure what your looking for,I used my original stock auto radiator with my 4 speed conversion and it works great no issues. maybe if your worried someone might look under the hood and see plugs in the transmission holes,I dont know if there is a specific radiator, I'll bet Joe knows

I too reused the auto radiator and plugged the holes. My car runs 190 with no problems. I also did this years ago when converting 3 58 chevys. Is your reason for wanting a stick radiator correctness or better cooling?

There's a lot of difference in radiators. Tube thickness, how far are they spaced, how many fins up and down etc. etc. As I said before, I didn't know what I should get and the guy at U.S. radiator walked me through it and I ended up with a good quality piece that worked out fine. But, since the place has changed hands???

Thanks everyone for the input. The reasons for the radiator change are that 1) My car is a one prior owner survivor and my 56 year old OEM rad is on borrowed time, and 2) I want a stick radiator so the car looks original after the 4 speed swap. What I have learned and figured out so far is this: US Radiator seems to be the best choice for a custom fit radiator. Their Aluminum triple pass core offer the best cooling, but it is only available in the stick shift variant as the lower tank is split in three compartments. I want the car to look as original as possible after the stick conversion. The Aluminum radiator cools better because of surface area, and is supposed to be more resistant to popping a tube as they are thicker and bigger, and aluminum does not become fragile over time as copper tubes do, but remains "flexible". Us Radiator will paint the aluminum radiator black for an extra $30.00, so it looks OEM.
I am resigned to paying a little more if I have to, but this is a road car, and I want trouble free long distance cruising in the future. Thanks to all for the help.
