In order to swap out my auto for a manual, I need to determine if my crank is drilled for a pilot bearing. Before I go ripping things apart, I figured it might be smart to ask if all 68 455 cranks were drilled? Seems like something an old auto company might due to simply cut down on the number part skus at the assembly line.

I'm not an expert on whether Olds drilled all 68 455 cranks or not but I was told only stick BOP cars from the factory had drilled cranks. What I can share is my 70 455 was not drilled and so I used the pilot adapter and it works. I did the auto to 4 speed conversion and got a lot of great info from this site. Also, Bro has a tech section on his site that has a detailed diagram showing exactly where the "Z" bar frame bracket needs to be welded to. If you have any questions I would be glad to help.

Nearly none of the 455 cranks I have are drilled.
