I'm tearing down our 1965 Cutlass convertible for new paint and it looks like I'll need a small section of patch panel for the top of the rear driver's side wheel lip. At first I thought I'd just get a Chevelle patch panel but now that I look at it, the Chevelle doesn't seem to have as much flare as the Cutlass at the wheel lip. Has anyone ever tried the Chevelle parts. As far as I know the Chevelle patch parts are the only ones available.
I have a few front fenders that I could probably cut up but I hate to destroy a full fender for such a small piece, 8" or so of lip once I cut back to clean metal.

Chevelle fenders have a completely different profile and wheel opening shape. Unlike later years, GM did not share outer sheet metal across divisions in the 1960s, except for things like roof panels.

Thanks Joe, This is what I suspected. The Chevelle doesn't seem to have as much of a lip or flare in the wheel opening.

I don't know if this helps or not but I was able to get a section of a floor hump for a Nova I was restoring from Dessert Valley Auto. The price was reasonable.
I had also asked about getting a section of the rear 1/4 panel for my car (a hole where an antenna was) and they would've done it but I decided to go another route.

May be gone by now, but a few months ago, Hidden Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix had a really rough partial convertible body shell, really beat up, but not a rust bucket. Might be worth a call.
