Ha - I bought this 65 off the internet from Minneapolis. Well it's been interesting to say the least. I've owned several 442s over the years but this one came with nothing to determine if it had issues that needed resolved. I have attempted to get the dealer to get me some info on the car from the builder - but alas and alack - they have their money and I have no information.
So I simply decided that anything on the car that didn't work correctly was either broken, wired wrong, or simply didn't exist! So far I have not been disappointed. I spent today getting the heater core out. Booyah I did it! The wipers were another fun issue but I knew how they worked and it all boiled down to the retaining clip on the end of the wiper motor. Just waiting on that one to appear in the mail.
Fuel gauges, one aftermarket and the stock one, were non functional. But one look told me the fuel sending unit was busted. Dang it. Hopefully the stock unit will work once I get the new one in. Waiting on that unit also.
BUT - when I received the car I took it for a bit of a drive, gas gauge be darned, and it does run rather well. It has a 1970 442 motor and 4-speed in it and the builder knew what he was doing. It's darned close in power to a 72 442 engine I built a million years ago. That motor would pull the left front tire off the ground a little bit on launch. It was one of the top 3 drag race, street racers, in the Treasure Valley for several years. My son and I built that car while he was in high school. Oh what fun we had at the midnight drags.
So anyhow - thought I would say hello and many Thanks for the assistance I've already received.
Be well,
Steve
