So my car currently has a 330 with stock exhaust manifolds (passenger side extra hole is capped). It has a crappy dual exhaust system on there, I need new exhaust now, but have the correct 400 to go in down the road. The question is if I buy a gardener exhaust for a 65 442 will it fit the 330 exhaust manifolds i have on there now correctly? Thanks in advance Brandon

the only difference i can think of is the left front pipe is larger on a 400 and the flange for the bigger pipe might not work with the 330 manifold.maybe a universal flange would work.dont believe you can use driver's side 400 manifold on the 330,i think it will hit the starter.

Brandon,
The RH pipe is the same P/N on every 1964-67 F85 with V8: 396658 The LH pipe is different from 330 to 400. The parts book does not indicate if the difference is just the diameter or if there are shape differences also. This assumes the use of the factory manifolds that are correct for the year and motor, of course.

Something similar:
I converted a 350 single exhaust to duals using stock dual exhausts for a 455. All factory parts. The only problem was the left side exhaust manifold was to small for the 455 header pipe. All I had to do was cut a few inches off of the old 350 crossover pipe where the flare is on the left side. Insert that piece into the left 455 pipe and it took up the gap between the 350 manifold and the new 455 header pipe. The loose flange bolt holes had to be slotted a little bit so the new 455 flange would bolt up to the 350 manifold. Use some sodium silicate muffler repair paste between the two pipes to make a seal just in case.
Later on down the road you can still hook up your 400, just take out the old cross over insert you cut to fill in the gap. You can get a new flange if you want to but you won't need it.
Worked out perfectly. I'm pretty sure you can do the same with your 330/400 combo.

So I ordered a gardener exhaust. I was able to order it with the driver side head pipe neck down to the small black exhaust manifold. Then when I put the 400 back in I will just have to order a new driver side head pipe. Thanks for all the help
