On the repop shroud I have (Jack Munser I believe), the edge of the fan opening turns inward 90 degrees towards the fan blades. This "lip" is about 7/16". The original 19" fan (with clutch) slightly rubs on the bottom. I have what I think is a photo of the original plastic shroud, and it does not appear to have this "lip"; it looks straight. Without the lip the fan would have enough clearance.
Is there a way to trim this lip? I thought of using a router with a flush trim bit, but not sure how the plastic would take to being trimmed with a router. I've done plenty of woodworking over the years, but never tried trimming plastic, at least soft plastic like this shroud.

If you have the router skills, I wouldn't know why not. The plug is routed out in the first place. Here's an original... Reproduction...

Hi,
Have you checked the condition of your motor mounts, as that might be causing the issue.
As stated trimming the plastic isn't real difficult.

Thanks Bro, I have the one shown in the top photo you noted as original (mine is not original). I have this photo which I think was an original. It has no lip at the edge of the opening, it's just straight.
