Ok... so the trim ring is an octogon... an 8 sided "allen". The pictures in BRO instructional guide appears to use a regular allen wedged. Only size I could get to hold a little is a 12mm. But it still spun. Obviously my trim ring has some corrosion to hold it tight. Is there such a thing as an 8-sided allen? Don't know what you'd call that. If not, what other methods has anyone tried to remove it. I guess the last option would be to buy a new lock kit, if it's even available.

Oh really? I saw the ignition switch bezel tool, but not one for the glove box bezel. I'll give the vice grip handle trick a try, if not I'll likely go with the tool, unless the price for a new one at Fusick is close enough.

I tried the Vice Grip handle tip for turning the bezel off the lock housing, but that wasn't sufficient either. What did finally work was combining two allen wrenches, in this case an 8mm and a 5mm, using the 5mm to jam against the 8mm wrench which locked into the bezel solidly and allowed me to turn it off of the lock cylinder housing.
Examining the lock cylinder it looks like holding it firm with channel locks distorted it slightly, which probably added to the difficulty in removing the bezel. So use a gentle approach when handling the housing. I was able to reform it and it returned to original shape.
Also be careful NOT to turn the housing while it's still engaged with the glove box door. There are two small tabs in the housing that fit into two notches in the glove box door, and it's easy to break them off (I broke one).
Turns out that didn't matter, as the new OPGI lid didn't have the notches in the correct location (probably wasn't positioned right when the form was poured for this door) so the lock wouldn't be clocked properly if the lock was aligned with the notches. So I ended up grinding the remaining tab smooth and hope that the whole assembly won't rotate with usage (although locking and unlocking rarely happens).

Fusick has the lock...$46.00...what I did was look up glove box bezel removal tool on the good ole internet and it came up with a tool from OPGI PN G241121...$32.99 glove box tool I think it said 64-88 glove box...however down below that which I didn't see before says it fit 69-77 cutlass....it is an 8 sided tool cant imagine the later glove box bezel being that much different than a 65 especially if both are 8 sided?
