How much clearance should there be between the full plastic fan shroud (AC Cars) opening and the fan blade? In other words, what was the opening diameter for the shroud, and what was the diameter of the stock fan blade (65 AC car - Lansing)?

I don't have the measurements in front of me but I compared the repro to the original and the repro must be trimmed over 1/4" to match. I used an 18" fan and discovered that the repro would not work without surgery. If you need the exact dimensions let me know.

Just measured my repro shroud and it is 19.75" dia. Original fan is 19". I was curious what the original shroud dia, is as this seems like it will a tight fit.
I have a 19" fan in there now without the clutch, but the fan sits closer to the radiator than the clutch set-up, which will have the blade half-in/half out. I have an 18" after market fan as well but was hoping to use the original 19".

I haven't found any fan that moves air better than the original 4 blade.

I've read that Bro, but makes you wonder why the factory would design a 6-blade fan for A/C cars. They don't typically spend extra money if they don't need to.

I tried just about everything I could think of on my drag cars (65 442's) and my street cars ... 6 blade, flex fans, duel electrics, declutching ( which I still don't understand if your not trying to raise the temp quicker ), different pitches and even "Water Wetter" additive and nothing worked as well as the shroud and the original pitch 4 blade fan. Just my 2 cents. scroll to the right for the pic

Thanks all, but I'll get back to my original question. How much clearance was there between the original plastic shroud and fan blade. (clearance from blade tips to shroud).
