When I put my convertible up on a lift if it's off the ground you can't open the doors.

John, I missed the Turkey Run this year because of house repair work. A bunch of friends drove up from Venice. All those places are on my to do list once we get moved. Being in the middle of the state makes everywhere a one day trip. Not so from down south. It would be fun to try a Florida 65 442 get together at some event. Maybe at the Street Rod Nats in Tampa?

Chris,
I don't know if you are a fan of Garlits or not but if you are he usually has a trailer at the Gator Nationals in Feb with thousands of old drag racing pics you can go through it and he talks to all who come there. You can even schedule, for an extra fee, a tour of his museum with him. I did it and it was really great. He demonstrated 4-5 flathead v8's from stock to very modified and then started one of his fuel dragsters. Both the old cars and the dragster buildings were very impressive. There is even a Navy jet out front that he raced with his dragster.
While your in Southern Florida you might like to visit the Packard museum. I was impressed with the cars. I forget the town it is in but you should be able to google it. I haven't traveled far with my car but do go to local car shows. John

Definitely going to Garlits Museum, and the Gator Nationals, which has always been just a little too far away for a day trip. I'm not afraid to take my 442 anywhere, but I pretty much limit myself to 300 miles a day in my hot rods, too hard on the old guy's body. The only concern I have with the 442 is the old drum brakes. I never realized how much better disks were until going back to a drum brake car after many years. It stops great the first time, but they sure fade fast! Not so good for the 80 MPH I-75 or the dreaded I-4. My car has 102,000 miles on the original drive train, great compression, doesn't burn oil, but I don't push my luck. Can't wait to get moved.

Good luck with your move. My sons and I usually go to the Gator Nationals on a Friday to avoid the crowds on Sat and Sun. We used to do the same when we went to Englishtown Nationals in N.J.. What a shame they shutdown that dragstrip. There is a dragstrip in Orlando but I haven't been there yet.
