Dunno if this is germane at this point in time...but I found someone who actually went to the trouble to make a casting and then reproduced it to an OEM original finish. His first one cost $2800 but if we all ordered maybe 5 or 10 each and he produced one hundred (we could sell them on ebay)......might be worth looking into?

It would be great if we could see some hi res pictures of his work. But I'm interested.

Even if the quality is OEM, the price would still have to be greatly less than the 2800. mark. The value of an original is in large part due to there rarity. Supply and demand !! What would 100 OEM "like" panels do to "demand"? After it`s all said and done, they would still be knock off`s and would have to be priced, described, and sold as such 2 cents

OK, so $2800 for one, how much per piece for 100, or 200? That's what we need to know. There are like 200-300 members on this forumn (I think).

Slow down guys
"efurtz" joined yesterday, his FIRST post was about how he "found someone" who for a mere thousands of dollars, from each of us, can provide you all with what is obvious, and common knowledge, what everyone is looking for. I think hi res pictures, and price per piece should be towards the bottom of the list of questions.
I have no clue who the poster is, or the someone he/she speaks of. The sheer vagueness of the post gives me the impression that this deal can go sideways in too many directions. It`s obviously worth exploring, but pace yourselves
3 cents

I'm sure you guys are all watching and I'll remind you that the last NOS piece went for $2100.00 on ebay just last month. I was offered a NOS for $3,000. privately but couldn't do it because of an engine dilemma, poor quality work, costing me thousands in re-do. I also had a panel re-chromed for about the same money but the chrome shop I used, polished out the matte surface, looks good, but not original. So I think this is a good deal, but understand the better the core the better the finished piece. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh-t! I'm still looking for a good piece.

Curious why anyone would spend over 1K when this guy can do one for less and it looks every bit as good as a NOS piece or new. All you need is a good core and patience as he tends to take a long time. Not trying to be controversial. Also with advances in 3D printing over the next decade one-off parts may become easy. Time will tell.

I'm always up for a drink! Sorry for the confusion Dave but I was referring to the guy that replated mine for 600.00. I know he wants more but suspect he'd honestly settle for 1K or less as he wont get any business if he doesn't. Was only wondering why anyone would pay 1500-3000 if they could get an original plated for less and probably looks better when all said and done. I've put it next to my original panel on the Cutlass and its every bit as good if not better as the bright chrome is triple plated. Anyway, just my thoughts.

I just can`t get my brain to pass this post up when a new post is made in this thread. It`s like the Brooklyn Bridge is for sale AGAIN !! Can you imagine if 100 of these hit eBay. But if we each bought 5 or 10, with 246 members ? And he produced 100 !!!!!! Cons were never very good at math I guess. From now on when I open this thread for a new post I`m going to close my eyes while the page opens and hold the scroll down key for a bit. That should stop the brain freeze X3 "Was only wondering why anyone would pay 1500-3000 if they could get an original plated for less and probably looks better when all said and done." (oldsproject)
