Looks nice, Shane. Definitely a recent build or an old build with few miles.

Just wondering what it would look like if it had the vinyl top, instead of paint. I like the way it looks with the vinyl.

Put the bucket seats in today. Been thinking of changing it to an auto on the floor so I laid the console in there. Still need to buy carpet and the front door panels.

Seeing that I have a few extra hoods laying around . I would like to give this hood some treatment . I was thinking of getting it painted flat black and putting a scoop on it. Any ideals on what scoop would look good ? Or any other ideals.

I always liked low and wide scoops. No more than an inch high, about a foot to 18 inches wide.

Since our hoods are so flat a hood scoop treatment can really make it look horrendous, right? So how about a subtle treatment, like a couple of rectangular holes cut on both sides of the carb, with some sort of grille or screen filling the hole. Trim the hole with a chrome molding. Or... do a really low profile (1-1.5" rise) cowl-style, where the cowl begins right at the front of the hood, then put cut-outs on both sides of the cowl with a similar treatment I mention in the first example. Or, what if you create a "bump" in the hood that replicates the shape of the hood and upper sections of the fenders (like in 1/2 the scale), and then in the coves on both sides of the "bump" you have cut-outs with a grille of some sort.

Goose , not a bad ideal . I do have a couple of sets of 68 hood louvers to use . But I like Bros picture with the scoops. It's oldsmobile style with duel scoops .

personaly id prefer OAI by pulling two headlites and plumbing into a dual aircleaner. i agree with goose, these hoods need just the right scoop or they look cobbled together

Stan , if I was to run true forced air system I would do that. I have a couple of hoods that are ready for scrap pile and just want to play with them and see if I could make them look good with some type of treatment. The hood I have on the car now has a few pecker holes on the lip.

Make up a bunch of different styles with cardboard, take a picture of them on the hood, and let us vote on them! Or maybe somebody here is good with photoshopping! That will at least get a little more activity on the site for a while.

I like Bro's pic as well. The dodge also had a flat hood and I always liked the 68 GTX (side vent look) and the dual scoops on the 69 super bee (there was a blue 65 cutlass for sale on CL awhile back that had dual scoops, maybe someone saved the pic?). Agree with others, the height should be limited to 1 to 1.5" to avoid a gaudy look.

I like the Hemi Dart scoops, but that may be a bit much. It would round out the boring flat hood, though. Nice car Shane, good to see you found a real clean left coaster to start with. Make it what you want.

I sent out a few messages to see what the color red is used on the the lower dash . With no replies I figured they must not know them selfs. This is what I came up with after going to 3 different paint shops. It looks very close to the orginal color. It was a bit pricey $47.00 for 2 cans. I assume it's because it has lead in the paint. The flat dark red that goes on the upper dash is still available from ppg its a bit pricey also $100.00 a pint. We will see how things turn out this spring.
