I am loading pictures of the '65 442 and the Cutlass today/tomorrow. The '64 442 pics are up on that link now.

Price seems reasonable if the 442 is the real deal. Have a few questions Re: the '64 442....what is thet driver, rear, frame rail number. (located by the rear exhaust hanger. All '64 442 had the same number. This would help confirm a true 442. The car was built in Lansing but has the Fremont style, driver side, air cleaner connection for the PCV during the 1964 model year. This does not seem to be original. Do you have close-up photos of the underside of the air cleaner? Is the exhaust capped off underneath the passenger side cross member? It appears to have the crossover style passenger side exhaust manifold. The 442 had no cross-over manifold. I did not see the upper, rear, control arm mounts. Are there 4 holes? Is the rear posi? Are there any soft spots in the frame?

Keener, thanks for making me do my homework. When I bought the '64 442, I knew the frame had the right differences (from regular frames) but I didn't know that there was a 442-specific number. I got out today after work and took these pictures. -The frame has 4 holes for each upper control arm. -The frame has extra factory weld plates on engine crossmember. -No tag on the rear, and if I spin one wheel the other turns opposite direction (probably not limited slip...I haven't taken the rear cover off). -Any possibilty a Lansing car was ever sold in California? I know Fremont and Michigan Pontiacs sold in Utah. Or possibly the car was taken immediately to California....Or the air cleaner was replaced... -Who knows if the exhaust manifold(s) were changed over time. Maybe the motor is from a different car?

You should be happy...all the '64 442's that I have found to date have the frame #3837595. The frame was typically built two weeks before the data tag build date. Your frame reads 3/30/64. I would assume your data plate reads "4B".....I say assume because I cannot read it in the photo. You may have one of the first ones off the line. As far as the dual snorkel. The engine could have been replaced.....too bad you do not have the POP to confirm the number on the head. The driver side valve cover has no access for the PCV, which leads me to believe the engine is possibly original. The fremont covers had a hole. What is the julian code on the back of the block? I would guess 80s-90's, just another thing that helps but doesn't solidify the original engine. I would say the snorkel is not original to the car. Maybe it was lost and another found somewhere along its journey into your dirveway.

Thanks for the info! I will check the cowl tag and the julian dates. I am stoked that the frame has that number.
