Its been a while.... I opened a new supply house this year and have been SLAMMED!!! I took the car out yesterday, it has 537 miles, mashed on it in first, the tires went up in smoke, spun through second and i eased off as it shifted into drive, as I slowed down to the red light when the transmission downshifted into 1st it made a horrible sound, It almost sounded like a tire rubbing a fender well, I obviously busted something in the 200R4 but not sure what, Ohh well out with the motor and transmission for ROUND 2
I hope everyone had a great summer!

I had the opportunity to speak with Art Carr yesterday. All I can say is that is one STAND UP guy! He already has a new transmission headed my way! no charge, no freight, no hassle. I am still going to pull the engine to make a few "changes" I hope to have it ready by spring time!

The engine and trans are just about out... Hopefully Saturday the engine will be sitting on the engine stand. I will be making some changes to the engine its self such as.. 7 qt oil pan, windage tray, new roller cam from Cutlassefi somewhere around 250/605, the heads and intake are going to be CNC ported. On the cosmetic side, I am going to repaint the entire engine bay, change valve covers, powder coat the block, fabricate some accy brackets and powder coat them also.

Might want to powder coat that oil pan too. I prefer the look over the gold iridite. I know... there I go trying to spend your money again.

Moneys in my pocket I'm ok. What are you going to do with them? It could change at any time but we are going to strip the wrinkle paint and powder coat them to match the block, then polish the top!

We are going to powder coat the water pump, intake, vlv covers, oil filter adapter, might as well do the pan.... lol I am struggling with what color, I know I am doing the intake the silver/chrome color, valve covers red, but I don't know about the rest, maybe black, maybe red maybe silver/chrome?

Just another progress report..... Cam is here, roller lifters are here, more stainless engine bolts arrived, new timing chain, harm balancer, Smitty of M & J has the heads and new Performer RPM intake and is starting them this week, ARH headers underway, getting ready to order the full Mondello bracket kit with PS pump and pulleys, and still debating exhaust but leaning towards Ram Air Restoration's 3.5 oval X pipe into Spintech's with 3" round outlets and 3" tailpipe to the back of the rear tire. Still searching for a good rear end with a 3:73 posi gear, or a housing to start building one!

Welp,
After a lot of thought and consideration, I sold the Art Carr 200R4 setup and opted for........that's right.......for......uhhhh huh for.................. 480LE hughes performance with a Twist machine convertor, twist machine paddle shift on the column..... etc... So far since after the last dyno session Mark (cutlassEFI) has ground up a new roller disco stick for the 468, Smitty (M&J Proformance) has gotten the bastard file out on my Edelbrock heads (Flowing 326 @ .600) headers being changed from 1-3/4 hooker to 2" ARH, Exhaust being changed from 2-1/2 Magnaflow to 3.5 Oval Ram Air restorations into spintechs into 3" round tail pipes....Still considering what rear end to run!
More to come!

What adapter are you running between the motor and 480LE bell housing?

What adapter are you running between the motor and 480LE bell housing? A trans dapt p/n 0061 I'm really excited about the amount of control I will have over the shift points, and the amount of control over the Torque convertor, you can actually adjust how aggressively it comes in for running slicks or soften it up for low sidewall street tires to avoid blowing the tires off when you mash on it! I really like the paddle shift also!

I am looking at a Moser or just building a 12 bolt. I am going to cut the rear end down to be about 1" overall more narrow than the stock rear end!

Glad to see you're making progress! I've made no progress since winter. I'm still waiting on my machine shop to get the new 455 block ready. While i was/am waiting I bought a 96 Impala SS for a daily driver and jumped on getting it the way i wanted it so I could get back on the Olds by the end of summer. But life gets in the way sometimes. I ruptured a disc a while back and just finally got through surgery. New baby coming on the 12th, so I'm pretty booked through fall it seems lol I hate i missed out on that 2004r
