Thanks 65. When I purchased this car 11 years ago I new nothing about the 65 olds. I was led to believe this was a low miles all original car, only to find out afterwords when I order a new radiator from year one that happen to be about 4 inches to tall to fit that the car had a 64 front clip. I have a complete 65 front clip from a vista crusier but the straight lines of the 64 grew on me and I descided to keep it. It is in deed a ride. The best 1/4 mile run is a 14.015 at 101 mph. That is with a 3.08 open rear and 26.62 dia tires and a driver that weighs 350 lbs. The car shifts into 3rd at 90 mph and it's a long way to fourth gear. Not sure what the top speed is I don't have the guts to push it much past 125. It is getting 22 + mph. I have the A4 trans hooked to 2 speed column shifter. The best thing is starting it, just reach in the window and bump the key it fires right up. I origianlly planned to build a 455 I had but wanted efi and od. The cost to build the olds with those two items drove me to the LS1 route. I did not have the budget for the 455, efi, od trans. Here are a few drag videos with the locals south of town. Ramz ,I would like to commend you on an incredable 442 restro, I followed your build on your site. I think you stated it was your first frame off restro which makes it all the more incredable. remember this e-mail
Cool. Car is getting painted this week, so lots of updates are in the works

How many thropies have you collected with it thus far? What a nice 442 you have now.
P.S. Bro called me a traitor. He said Ls1 or 455 I'm still a traitor cause the 400 is the only thing that belongs there.

Dont worry about Bro, he is as harmless as a pussy cat. ;D Its won a few but I dont take it to shows that much. I hit the local cruise nights when I can. That way I can leave when I want to.

trooperjohn yes I used the factory pcm and wiring harness. It is amazing how easy this modern techno stuff is to make run in an old amercian classic muscle car. In fact the wiring was the easiest part of the entire transplant. I'll be the first to admit the LS1 is indeed an eye soar with those coil packs on top the valve covers and a plastic intake. I did my darnest to hide it with the custom covers I made. And getting the ram air plumbed and functional thru both head lights was a job in it self.

I claim to be a member of the original only police ( I even cry when someone puts aftermarket wheels on a 442), but I see some well-planned design and hard work done on your car. And if I dare say it...I like the '64 front! It looks great on your car. Your willingness to modify the dash and drop an LS1 in the car is actually done professionally. It has well thought out design. And the ram air setup is neat, too.

I personally think the only true muscle car is a factory example that has been modified by its owner to look and perform in a particular way......hence Maxx Tugg with a 10,000 pound travel trailer hooked up to a specially built hitch/suspension,drive line. So I say.......way to go with the LS1. Any mods I have done to my '65 are completely reversible...back to stock form in mere hours. Just do the mods like the factory would have built and I say you "have" yourself a MUSCLE CAR. Maxx Tugg might not be the fastest...but I bet-ya it is the toughest/strongest built one . It'll pull anything a dualie will. Ken Maxx Tugg ('65 442 Holiday Coupe) Go '65s Let's don't change the site because we're acquiring '66s
