If you take your car to a show, let me know. I would like to see it close up and compare. You might see me on the freeway. I drive my car to work at least once a week. It's really not a show car just a nice daily driver quality ride. I will be at Goodguys in the autocross coral the end of SEP 30 - OCT 2. I met therobski there last year he was in his real nice 67 442. Didn't get a chance to hang out much and chat my boss (wife) can only take so much of the car show scene. If you frequent any of the weekly cruise in's in the DFW area please let me know which are the best. I would like to join in on some local weekend drive cruises with other classics. At the moment it's just to darn hot to hang out in a parking lot. What ride do you have?

From your sons build thread best I can tell your restoration is far beyond the quailty of what I did. Except maybe the steering wheel. That was a pretty rough start. I'd be gald to donate my original for the cause. It only has 2 small cracks in it. You can see one of them just below the cross bar on the left.

Especially sense I do cad work for a living and gave them the file all they had to do is load it and tell it were to make the first cut. 13 minutes latter dash in hand.

doin cad right now for granite countertops, does the waterjet do the lettering and insignia? Yes you can do much tighter patterns with the jet compared to cnc. The cnc is limited by cutter dia. Infact the wheel caps I show above on the cnc are pushing the envelope.

I installed my new wheel caps over the weekend. I decided not to paint them for now. Just polished them instead.

Hey guys just found this thread and thanks for all the compliments, it's really helped me push the 64 post forward from what it was and what I endured getting the " Rustbucket" out of Ohio. Some may have read some older posts that initailly I was very close to taking the "Rustbucket" to the crusher, after I was misled on the condition of the sale on Evil-Bay and what I paid. Cut my losses and move on. Check my the build progress on Classic Olds and protouring.com. If you see what the chassis build, it is becoming pro-touring ride is now the norm. However it will look like a granny 64 base Club Coupe ( Stealth) The only thing left on the chassis from 64 is the frame!!! Thats it!! It is a huge learning curve way beyond what I ever expected, lots of help from the Olds cummunity from the forums and hands on from the local Olds guys. That said this will bring a very unigue 64 F85 500hp 425 Olds pro-touring buggy to life!!!!

bski you mentioned in your post you were installing SFI seat belts to hold you in your seat. Are you planning on installing a roll bar to accomplish that?

I should but I don't think I so. Really want to take her on cruises, like Power Tour etc. Maybe get into some auto cross racing, Saturday nights on the BLVD etc. Do various brands of SFI seat belts warrant the use of a roll bar as far as the install? I realize from others already that the granny bench seat will not hold me in even with seat belts the way this car should handle. That's the plan for now anyway I can always up grade the interior if thats something that I would enjoy offen.

If your car handles anywhere close to mine you will have your hands full staying in place on the autocross. It's really no big deal unless you get serious and want to compete at the top of the heap with the real PRO pro touring folks and sponsered cars. I still had a blast and my car will run alot faster if I pushed it harder but it was all I could do to hold on. I'm going to try and push it a bit more next month at GG but not sure I can with out upgrading the seating and harness which is not an option for me. That was why I ask the question I don't know of any SFI 5 point system that will work without some type of cage. I have no desire for a cage either sense I still give my grand babies a ride in the back seat every now and then. Autocross is just a once a year pass time and certainly not priority. I'm still jealous you got a bench.

Maybe, I printed a page of a rear seat belt to shoulder harness lock , looks like a 5 point seat belt in the front. It's on a 68-69 pro touring Firebird on pro touring.com I thought that was very unique. If you cannot find it I can fax the picture...or maybe I can scroll back through and locate it; but it's worth a look. See ya GG and the end of Sept. (if it cools off and we get some rain) I'm sure it will.

I just spoke with them and the belts want work without creating other mounting points that will place the shoulder straps at about a 45 degree angle off the back of the seat so as you stated you would have to come up with some other mounting underneath the back seat between the bottom and back cushion. I could see using some custom straps as attachments that would be similar to rear seat belts.
