Anyone have any experience w/ manual steering? Mine seems to me to have too much play. Anyone know about how much it should have?

It's never been proven (cause I've never seen it done) but I've heard you can loosen the nut that has the slotted type bolt in the center (on the top of the gearbox) and tighten it up to take out the slop. I've never done this and I really don't know anyone that has. The other option would be to get a rebuilt gearbox. Finding one in Germany or having one shipped from the U.S. may be costly though.

Ive tighten the worm gear, that nut on top, on my F150s steering box. It does take some slop out of it but its a very finicky adjustement. Too much and it will cause the wheel to dart when turned. Best bet is a rebuilt box.

I've already investigated the adjustment. What I'm interested in is how much play it should "normally" have.
