A couple of pictures from 1965. My burgandy post, and a 64 442 that belonged to a buddy. Both were 4-sp cars.

Here's the second picture. Those cars should have killed us. We just got lucky I guess.

Here is one that a friend ordered to drag. Jackson Olds covered any repairs and my friend did the driving. A stripped F85, heater delete, radio delete. 4.11 gears if I remember correctly. Other shots of the same car to follow.

Truly awsome pics, it's so good to see period shots like that especially sitting at the dealer with those other 65's side by side.

RAMZ, I'm in Bonaire, Ga. but lived just a few miles north in Macon back then. Jackson Olds was is Macon and is still in business, but now they sell Mercedes. They backed the 65 that I shared with you for one season at the local track, but in 66 they campaigned their own tri-power car. They named it Toranado Jr. There was quite a rivalry between that 442 and a GTO that the local Pontiac dealer campaigned.
The 64 that's pictured with my 65 belonged to a good friend. His cousin had a red 65 442 Holiday Coupe. He bought that one two days after I got mine. We were the best of friends and all three drove 442s. I'm getting misty eyed just thinking about it. ;D

The car was red in and out. Black rubber mats of course. It was his daily driver as well as racing on weekends. His new wife hated the car because of the 4-speed and low gears, plus she was small and those clutches were pretty stout. He eventually traded the car at the end of the year for a Holiday 442 with automatic. An older gentleman bought the car and I used to see him around town for several years afterwards. Always sounded like he was lugging the engine and about to stall. Those 4.11 gears were not made for the street.
