I'm somewhat embarrassed to post these pics especially after looking at some of the other member pics! Not very good pics, I forgot my camera and took with my cell phone. Complete with barn dust and junk... Doors are inside the car. Former owner had doors repaired, but never got them put back on. Right now I am trying to look through "rose colored" glasses. I guess that's what alot of other have had to face. Am lacking a red automatic console, but not much else. The pot metal piece between the tailights was stolen and I found a used piece here, but it is not very good. Will keep looking. Guess I have that on my list of last things to do!

Ive seen alot worse cars than yours. Seems like everyone starts with a car that looks like yours. And Ive seen a lot with the fender crunched like that, mine included.

That's not bad at all .........Z's was buried up to the axles in the sand. AND I've had some that should have been completely buried in the sand, but eventually it all comes together, just ask anyone here.

Shit, once you wash that thing you'll think you died and went to heaven, piece of cake compared to some of the beasts we've seen.

Currently has a 330 and Jetaway tranny.
However, I have a '70 455/365 out of a Vista Cruiser and a TH400 out of a '70 442 that I am planning on using (if I can get it all figured out!).
I want to keep the original floor shift if possible, plus try and make it look as original as I can under the hood.

I agree with the wash idea. It will look better than most of our projects did to begin with. At least it is covered with barn dust and not moss and tree pitch. How are the floor pans and trunk floor-that is where mine had the most problems. Any Olds engine will be great in it. I know everyone is seems to be a big fan of the turbo 400 setup but I got my switch pitch working correctly and I love it. Mine both have the 323 gears and when you stomp on it with that SP Jetaway, it seems like it has 456 gears. If you don't want the SP Jetaway, I'll take it off your hands if I can figure out how to get it out here. The floor shift can be left completely stock looking with a little creative metal work on the detent plate in the shifter assembly. How far down are you going to take it? Frame-offs are great but a LOT OF WORK!!!! Good luck.

It's ok, I'm laughing with, NOT at anybody! ;D Don't know about Vancouver, but Iowa was hot enough today to affect "brain function"! Am mulling over restoration plans, but am thinking a frame off resto. Have been there once before and know it's a real bearcat of a job. Could use some help if there are any volunteers! Have some trunk floor rust but passenger floor really appears great. One silver dollar sized rust spot in drivers rear quarter. And, of course, the crunched front passenger fender. Someone evidently wanted the trunk open real bad as it looks like they took an air chisel to the metal around the trunk lock. Not pretty at all! Still udecided on the Jetaway. Have never driven one and don't really know which way I want to go. Right now I'm trying to determine all the parts I'm missing and seeing if I can acquire what I need prior to tearing into the project. I have already found a forum member here that is helping me out with door glass & regulators that I am missing. Most of what I am missing is door hardware, however, I discovered yesterday that Iam missing the stainless at the top of the windshield. Arrrggg.

ok, ok ???so now i know the cutlass was only available as a hardtop, the 442 option was available on all except the wagon i think? blame it on the beer, sounds like the car is fairly complete and should be on the road soon. hows the rest of the chrome look? is the pot metal pitted bad? stick with the jetaway, its already in there. unless you go 4 speed of coarse ;D

Heck yes, that a great start to a project. Like others said, a good wash would do wonders and you could even get a shine with a little compound, don't know if it would be worth it, but if it's drivable it would be worth it.

Yes,very nice compared to what I started with-mine had been hit on all 4 sides! This looks new by comparison. One of my earlier 65s had a 455 with the original 2speed trans behind it,worked real nice, but a 350 or 400 would have been nicer>Good luck with the project. ---bil
