Final Assembly. We've been driving this car every day for the past 4-5 years. From the above hand written option code sheet found under the carpet. A39-Deluxe front & rear seatbelts A52-Front bench seat B12-Chrome rear view mirror B16-Deluxe window regulator handles B30-Front carpeting & rear deep pile B50-Extra foam padding-front seat cushions B52-Foam padded rear seat cushion D15-Delete arm rest D31-Glare proof tilt rear view mirror D32-Outside rear view mirror D34-Visor vanity mirror M33-Jetaway 2-speed Special Duty transmission N45-?? The car also has power steering & brakes but I don't see the codes on this sheet. Maybe N45 is N40?

Beautiful job on the resto! Great looking color.
Looks like you have a couple other toys too. I've got a '72 K5 the same color as your long bed. It grows on you.

Thanks guys. The yellow truck in some of the pictures is a 71' Chevrolet C30 1-ton Longhorn that my dad bought new. It's all original with a 402 BBC & 4-speed.

Very, very nice! A 65 Cutlass convertible is what started me on my love affair with 65 A-bodies. In 65 I had a neighbor that bought one off the showroom floor and I still remember the day we went for a ride in that car, it seemed huge to me then. Then when I was 10 a guy moved in down the street with one and I bugged him for years to sell it to me. Finally did and I drove the piss out of that car just like it was except for a new carb. I started a resto and then stopped and the car has been rotting for years unfortunately. Between my son, then 4, putting his head through the top and getting hammered in a storm in Texas, it's been in sorry shape and ready to be stripped now.
Looks great, love the color change.

...did you redo any chrome or was it good? Yes, both bumpers and all the lower side moldings. The guy who did the side moldings said "never again" after he finished mine. He had a heck of a time getting them right but he did in the end. I polished all the stainless but left most of the other chrome original. It was good enough that a light polish cleaned it up and left the car with some character. I do need to redo the console though. My wife's favorite color is dark blue. We went to look at the car and saw clues of the original blue under the red and knew we had to buy the car. These are the original colors for the car, Royal Mist with Pearl interior. My wife also races the car, got 1st place one year. Mid 16's is about all we can get with the 3.08's and stock ignition.

WOW!!!!! What a great job on that one! Was that your first resto.? On the racing---if you really wanna wake that thing up, all you need is some headers, exhaust, and gears. I had a '64 f85 that was bone stock except for a set of Hooker Headers, dual exhaust (originally only single) and a 4:56 posi from a '69 Chevelle and with some tuning I ran a best of 14.85. I was only 16 at the time. Now, 36 years later I guess that wasn't too bad. Until next time.....Dave.

KUDOS !!!! That car is beautiful ! The change from the red to the royal mist is amazing. It looks like a different car. Did you use panels from another 65 for the lower rear quarters, or ?

All the colors on this car are now back to original, interior and exterior. Yes, I grabbed a trunk floor with the lower fender skirts from a wrecking yard 65 here in AZ after we got the car. Worked out good since I got all the pieces I needed to fix the rust. My biggest issue now is that I can't get the ST300 to seal. I've redone the pan gasket maybe 4-times now with all kinds of different gaskets and sealants. I'm thinking now that it's leaking from somewhere else. I'm about ready to pull it and put a TH350 in th car. This was my first full frame off resto. The car was so much work that I decided to take a few years off before starting on one of my wagons. It's been 5-6 years now so maybe it's time to start on one of the wagons?
