I was lucky to purchase a car that was basically untouched, just 50 years old, but still, all the information on the forum, especially the insight knowledge of Ram Z and BRO was an incredible help!!! Thanks for the assembly manual... The back up deletes where a lucky punch, I found them NOS on e-bay for a bargain price of 100$ They are as nice as they left the factory. The car will be kept original, also for the engine rebuild I will stay conservative and keep the look as it is now.

I have been working on my car as well as an other 65 442 in Switzerland and we both passed the tests to get our cars licensed. I will have mine by the end of next week, the one you see is the business license plate of a good friend of mine... and a nice rear bumper

I would check ignition timing, and at the same time be sure your vacum advance connection to the distributor is routed correctly or, close it.
wrong ignition timing plus vacuum advance routed incorrectly can cause a increased idle.
and yes, choke linkage to be checked also.
Best wishes and good luck

Did it 3 weeks ago, took me a weekend to finish completely You need to get access to the little screws that hold the complete dash unit. I think it where 8 or 10. some are tricky. To change the dash the whole unit has to come out.
My advice is, take the old one out and put the new one in the same day or weekend, so you remember how you disconnected the parts.
I took the console and AC parts out, just to be able to get access

I restored a 71 and a 65 Cutlass/442, and from what I remember they are not the same considering mounting pegs. But it is some years ago that I touched the 71...
I might have some 65 trunk letters

I got the bumpers from USA.
Because of federal law concerning environment protection it is very costly in Switzerland to have a bumper rechromed. You can think of something like 4000$ Insane.
So when I saw a set listed on eBay I took the risk, they where expensive to, but they are really nice, if they hold up well I think they are worth the money. Some of the real better work I have seen.
If you are interested I send you the link.

You will find some information on the 400cu inch engine on Jasen Ramsey`s homepage, the 400 is in the assembly manual he shows on the homepage.
