Really joe. The first gasket i bought was thick blue board, no issues used rtv both sides. This new gasket is of thicker semi metal however flexable. No rtv but it dosent state that. Both gaskets were made by felpro.

Gaskets have really changed over my 35 yrs on this globe, more than ever. Why is it that you buy a gasket thay cant print on the box or bag, "This gasket requires sealant" on one side or both. Ex: I purchased a new oil filter adaptor gasket, felpro 9948, no instuctions for use, which side faces what, sealant or no sealant.. Used google and youtube no dice. Have you guys ever ran into this issue??

On the valve you will see four indentations, you need to work those out with a pick. Me i used a steel dental pick, and tiny standard screwdriver, takes some effort. To reassemble i used a metal punch letter i. Reassembling sucked, kept popping, my new indentations. I ended up putting 6 punch marks to be on the safe side.

HOWWWEEEVVVEEERRRR, WHEN THE PRESSURE RELEASE VALVE IS COATED WITH OIL AND MY DUMB POLISH ASS IS IN A TWO (2) CAR GARAGE IN LOW LIGHT, ME AND MANY OTHERS HAVE CALLED THIS A SCREEN, EVEN THE PERSON WHO STARTED THIS THREAD. SOOOO WERE NOT WORTHY, WERE NOT WORTHY.

Wouldnt that defeat the purpose of a pressure release valve then.?

You gotta admit dave, jabbin at a poor scmuck as myself is kinda fun. I pulled out assembly and found two (2) pieces of what appears to either be gasket or overly hardened gasket silicone. Maybe the culprit since i can push the pressure relief valve much further in now. I will see tomorrow.

I went and removed entire unit. Valve only opens 1/8 inch or so. Its soaking right now in diesel fuel.

So dave if thats clogged up would that cause oil to bypass the filters rubber seal?? If not what would cause oil to bypass a brand new filters seal? I just had this issue today.
