Okay, maybe I should of done a little research prior to posting...lol. I did a little google action and ended up on Bro's site and found that the stripe consists of:
7/8" outside stripe 11/16" field 3 3/4" center stripe 11/16" field 7/8" outside stripe
......and the far right hand side of the stripe should be 15 7/8" from the left edge of the hood (If sitting in the drivers seat).
I am going to try and re-create this in paint on my hood which may turn out looking like poo, but what the hell. I will post some pics once its done.

All, I wanted to see if anyone had the dimensions for the stripe that Oldsmobile applied that was offset across the body? I am in the process of painting my fiberglass hood and thought it would be fun to re-create the stripe on it. Also, just for my information...was the stripe a factory thing, or was it dealer installed? Thanks in advance!

Just a small update...I cleaned up my throttle assembly and got it attached today. I used a spring that was on the original 65 assembly and it seems to work pretty well. I appreciate you guys taking a look. Thanks. She is getting close to making her first passes almost 2 years...

I was wondering if anyone has some good pics of a 64 Cutlass throttle setup? I am specifically looking for the assembly that is on the firewall....I have a setup, but it dont have any springs on it at all, and I want to see what I may be missing.
Long story short, I am currently running a Lokar throttle cable and a pedal out of a 71 Cutlass, and I hate it..it dont feel the same, has less response. Looking at possibly going back to the mechanical, and the shop that put the rack and pinion in my car cut my assembly out...dicks.
Thanks in advance.

Damn Rocketeer, that is a gorgeous car! I love the look of those three carbs on top. It has come a long way from where you started.

I have been in and out....lurking really. We just got back from our vacation in Hawaii, and now its time to start working on fitting the new engine into my 65. The weather has been cool, and rainy since we got back, and its been hard to get motivated.

Actually, its a 12bolt out of a 69 Chevelle, so I am losing an inch or so on each side. I am running 275/60's , and plan to correct that lean before the car goes back to the track by having an anti-roll bar installed.

I run a 15 x 8.5" rim with 4" of back spacing and have a pair of MT Drag Radials mounted. They dont rub, and she sixties pretty good.....nevermind the gangster lean...lol

Wow, its been a while since I have updated this and figured it may be time to do so. I had been running the 468 in the car up until this winter, and it has ran great outside of a few small issues. I added the fiberglass hood that I purchased from VFN, and have always been a fan of the old Super Duty hood scoops, so I added one to the hood. I created my own aluminum air pan to catch air, and shove it down the carb's throat. The engine loved the air, and I upped jet sizes in the carb each time down the track, and the ET, and MPH got better each time. Last year, I had an issue where the float adjustment screw on the secondary backed out, and fuel was spraying the back of the intake, and headers. I was making a pass when the car caught fire and burned up the distributor, which in turn shut the car off. I was smart enough to reach up and shut the fuel pump off, and when I coasted to a stop, I heard the crowd along the fence yelling "YOUR ON FIRE!" By the time I got the belts off, and window net down, the track guys were there, and putting the fire out. I was lucky, and only burned up the distributor, and a bunch of wiring under the hood. I replaced the distributor, and re-wired everything, and was able to get the car back out at the end of the season. It seemed to make more power, and I was having suspension issues that made the car blow the tires off from the get. I sold the 468 just prior to Christmas, and have acquired a 417" DX based small block Oldsmobile that will take its place. There are alot of upgrades that need to take place now since the power output is almost double, and previous suspension issues will only be magnified now. I am possibly looking at putting a manual rack and pinion on the car, and doing a anti roll bar setup in the back to make the car leave straight. I have been away a while, but plan on hanging out here more often. I love seeing the 65 Cutlass in all of its iterations, and enjoy reading all of the different experiences you guys have with them.

Battened down that hatches here in MD and am ready to ride it out. Good luck to you fellas in NJ/NY and any one north of land fall. Just gassed up the snow thrower too in case the snow/rain line moves some. Crazy to think that I am going racing next weekend. Where are you going racing? Capitol Raceway if its still there....

Hey Mike. Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. They actually cut a section out and move the rear wheel wells forward. They also move the front wheels forward, and do sheet metal work to make the fenders look right. The goofballs on Muscle Car (On Spike) just did an altered wheelbase Comet, and they showed how they did it. I tried to find the episode on their site, but it don't seem to go that far back. Here is the car complete: Also, here is a Nova someone cut up, and they have ALOT of pics on the project. alteredwheelbasenova.com/

Hey guys, its been awhile since I have posted but have been lurking around amazed by all of the great cars you guys have. RIP OLDS, your car looks fantastic. Ihave always been a steel wheel, and poverty cap guy (I know) but your car in black with those SS1s looks great. I have put my heap up on jackstands for the winter. The plan is to swap the axles out and put in a spool. Also I want to swap out the steel hood, and front bumper with some fiberglass pieces to take some weight off of the nose.

Just my .02 cents, but with that much compression I would highly suggest re-considering your fuel choice. I am at 12.5:1, and run VP C-12 through mine while on the motor.
If you want to run that much compression, you should not try to cheap out and run a mixture of anything. If it is a street car that will get driven ALOT and raced less, then a pump gas big block should have been considered.
Again, this is just my opinion, but feel that with all of the money spent to build an engine like that, why take the chance of detonation and puking the crank and rods onto the ground ?

I may not know what I am talking about here as I removed mine a while back, but isnt there a large fuse at the junction on the inner fender where the positive battery cable connects ? I will have to crack my manual open when I get home, and also take a look at the junction, but I could swear that there is a fuse there.
Eh, upon quick Google, it looks like that is the Horn Relay that hangs off of the junction.....Sorry. The only thing I can think is to start chasing it backwards to see if you are getting power from the battery at the junction, and move backwards.

I converted to manual discs from a 71 Chevelle wagon, and am using a master cylinder from an 89 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. I just needed to put a Wilwood prop valve after the master, and it works great.
Not alot of effort to get it stopped needed even coming down from over 120.
