Earlier this year I went on ebay and found a genuine, 442 competition plus from a 66 442, rebuilt and the stick re-chromed, for $300.00. Can't remember the guy's name now, but I'll look for it if you want, He finds and rebuilds early GM four speed shifters for a living. I'll get back to you if I find the info.

No, but this guy had some really oddball stuff. I have seen bench seat shifters on ebay before. Do you care if it is Saginaw or Hurst? You know Hurst does offer a bench seat shift handle for the modern Competition Plus, it bolts on like a T-5 or T-45 handle, 2 bolts on the side.

I suffer the same affliction, however, I tried being dead a few years ago. Since coming out of a one week coma, I have decided I prefer getting old. You just have to laugh it off, every freakin day!

I have two bench seat 4-speed cars and have an extra Penske shifter that my Dad put in one of the cars to replace the original shifter a long time ago. I pulled it out for an original T-handle unit so it's just sitting in a box now. I believe the body of the shifter is like the Hurst unit with a bolt on handle. I can pull it out and see what all is there if you think you might be interested.

I bought a beautiful, fully restored 442 Competition Plus, with the correct 442 chrome handle from a guy in Omaha who restores OEM shifters. His name is Brandon Roumpl, his address is 18555 Davenport Plaza, # 209, Omaha, NE 68022. Sorry, I don't have his email or phone any more, but I found him on ebay. Worth your while to look him up, he sent me a really nice part for about the same price as an aftermarket Hurst shifter. He had a good selection OEM stuff. Good Luck.
