Last Friday Port Huron, Mi., hosted a cruise night and I had the pleasant surprise to meet the owner of a red '65 post car. What struck me in particular about this car were two things...first, the wheels and, secondly, the large, black striping on both hood and trunk. It reminded me of the paint scheme on a number of the later 442's. It turns out that the gentleman who owns the car lives about a half hour's drive from me. The paint blocks on the hood and trunk are completely at odds with the shape of the car. Why do people do this? These blocks look good on (for example) the 69 442s where they mimic the shape of the raised panels on the hood. Here they add nothing. The front edge of the stripes don't even parallel the leading edge of the hood. Sorry, not an esthetic improvement in my opinion.

Not a fan of the wheels or stripes, but I like the Scoops on the Blue 65
