what size is the NPT thread on the piece?

Not sure it doesn't specify. It's not just that the threads don't fit, the diameter of the piece is larger that the diameter of the opening in the manifold.

Olds went to a larger NPT on the intake fittings in about 1971 (this is the same time that the water pump inlet was enlarged to 2"). Early fittings are 1/2 NPT, later are 3/4 NPT. The fitting you bought is for a later motor.

Thanks Joe, it specifically said it was 65-70. A vendor was incorrect in Olds applications. I'm shocked. When you see year breaks like that, it should raise flags anyway, since 1964 should also be the same.
