Here is an off the wall question... I will be storing the hood off of my 65 holiday for a while (front clip is off the car)...what is the best way...up right sitting on the rear edges leaning against a wall in a safe location?...will this damage the hood long term???...would lay it down flat if I had the space...any better Ideas....what have others done? Also going to be storing the windshield and rear glass...I have a TV box that is long enough and wide enough...was going to make a rake like you see in auto glass trucks out of planks dowels and carpet to separate and lay down length wise...any problem with doing this long term Thanks in advance

I normally take two 2X4's (length of hood) and space them a 3-4 inches apart. I run two shorter ones about 4-5" from the ends to join everything together from the bottom. Then I fill in the void with good quality foam, bubble wrap, or other cushioning material. Then I slide the back edges of the hood into the void and stand mine up on the rear edges. I then run a rope around the top and secure to a wall of some sort. If you will keeping outside over ground then I usually double up the bottom 2X4s and put a piece of good quality tarp on the ground to keep moisture down. I've also layed hood flat across rafters, saw horses, and/or a bench. Although I haven't tried this yet one option I have considered is making a bracket and mounting to the hinge area and then securing to a wall. I'm sure many ways to put away for safe storage.

I feel you are totally Over Thinking this whole thing. put a piece of carpet or anything to cushion the bottom edges and stand it against a wall (out of the way) It's more common sense than rocket science.

I suppose you are right Bro...just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to mess anything up since I am sorta new at this and don't know how long it will be sitting there...as it worked out my son had space in his storage unit so we placed it there against a wall on some carpet with a shipping blanket over it and between it and the wall...hopefully will be able to store the glass and front fenders there also...need the space in the garage to work...
thanks for the responses
