The turn signal lever doesn't seem to fully engage for a right hand signal but it does for a left one. In addition I have to replace the cancelling cam. My question is what are the steps to remove and replace the switch? I'm wondering if the new switch wires with it's connector can be pushed down the column and out to plug into the harness connector? The signals are working but I don't like the lever issue and I have to open things up anyway to replace the cam. one of the dash turn signal lights is not working it just happens to be the right one. That is also the same side as the lever problem. thanks in advance for your help, john

Of course you have to pull the steering wheel, the turn signal unscrews and pull out toward the driver. There is a cover under the colum that you take off to allow the wires with the connector to come out and go back in. There are 2 types of cancelling cams so you have to make sure you get the right one for your car. Its really easy once you get the steering wheel off (that can be a real pain, you need a good puller.) Make sure you mark all the washers and spacers coming apart so you can put them back the same way. Gary

Gary,
thanks for the info. This is the first time doing this. I was aware from this site that there are two turn signal switches but didn't know there are also two cams?

It is all one switch, the cam is part of the switch. You need to change the whole switch not just the cam. I don't even know if you can change the cam only. Gary

It looks like the switch and cam are two separate pieces. That is how they come out and are sold. My question is do both pieces have to be "BPC" or "Guide"? It seems clear that there are two different switches but not two different cams. My confusion is over that fact and because my cam has "guide" printed on it. It also looks like my switch has "BPC" on it. Does the column and/harness dictate which of the two (bps or guide) must be used?
Sorry for so many questions. John

I'll be happy to send in photos (maybe a video). I'm waiting for a new horn wire. My horn wire with spring would not stay compressed in the new cam which is necessary to keep tension on the horn contact.
My only concern at this point is putting the collar back on the column. It doesn't seem lke a good tight simple twist on or off connection. When I took the turn signal switch out and turned the collar it all came off the column.

After installing and removing the switch and cam several times I finally figured out how it all goes together and now everything works great. I have to put a jumper wire on the rag joint to complete a good ground when the horn button is depressed.
thanks to all that help me,
john
