Muffler sound is very subjective. Lots of Olds owners (myself included) use the Walker Dynomax Turbos. Nice musclecar tone, no obnoxious drone. I use the louder 14" versions on my 442s, the quieter 21" versions on my Delta 88.

I would have to agree with Joe, my sons 69 Cutlass 350 has the Walker Dynomax turbos on it and just sounds nice and healthy, but not loud ...I made the mistake, in my opinion, of putting the Flowmasters on my stock 65 442 vert and it sounds like a tank at Idle and drones like crazy at speed...can't hear the radio...they will come off when I restore the car...as said before in the preceding post exhaust sound is purely subjective...

You should also note that Flowmasters are regularly among the most restrictive "performance" mufflers in published tests. How they manage to combine obnoxiously loud sound with extremely restrictive flow remains a mystery.

I hate flowmasters, Walker Turbos like Joe says or I like the "turbos" sold by In Line Tube.

I had a set of flowmasters on a 330 cutlass. Could not hear anything except the loud drone. On my 442 I am putting the walker sound fx his weekend. I've heard positives about dynomax and sound FX.

i don't know what the internal difference is between a flowmaster and a sound fx because i never cut one open but i use a LOT of sound fx mufflers and they sound great.recently put duals on a 65 cutlass convertible i had for sale that had a 425 in it and with 2 1/4 front pipes and stock 2 in tail pipes it sounded awesome.at hiway speed it was almost too quiet.they do look like a flowmaster on the outside.the last set of flowmasters i used didn't last 3 years on a garage queen.

Hi Joe, would you possibly have the part numbers to the Walker Dynomax Turbos 14'', or maybe a supplier where I could purchase them. I checked the Walker web page and after entering the info. for a 65 Olds , the site states exclude 442. Thanks Jerry.

The Dynomax Turbos are universal fit, not model-specific. Just pick the length, inlet/outlet configuration, and pipe diameter for your application. 17733 is the 14" long version I use on my 442s with 2.5" pipes. 17731 is the same muffler with 2.25" pipes. I used 17747 on the Delta. www.dynomax.com/mufflers/super-turbo-mufflers
