Any suggestions on where to find an oil drain plug tool for the eight point star or even an alternative plug?

isnt it just a 3/8 or 1/2 inch square part of a ratchet or extension?

Yep, just checked the one on my 425 and its a 1/2" square It is a ½" drive ratchet or extension. However, both ratchets and extensions are slightly rounded at the top to make the connections easier. I took an old short ½" extension and cut the end flush on a chop saw and it works much better and doesn't round out the plug.

Just warmed my afternoon cup of coffee in the micro, accidentally hit the popcorn button !! Just a tad too much salt, but not enough butter. Anyway, what your looking for is a bonnie 8pt. torx. Normal torx are 6pt. same as allen. Bonnie made these for the flush mount plug. Used on 60`s pans and rear diff drain plugs. I have a kit somewhere. Try this seller, I`m sure he has more www.ebay.com/itm/290727676116So he doesn`t get several requests, I already contacted him. If he gets too many inquiries he might try jacking us off. Lets see where it goes.

I mailed payment this morning. This is how it all shook out.
The best deal he could give me was on an order of 12 bits. Per bit it comes to $2.08. (cheap enough for a tool this obsolete) Shipping was free from the seller to me. Now I can`t offer FREE shipping, but I assure you I`m not looking to make a penny off of these. I`ll ship them the cheapest possible way. (actually @ 2.08 I`m losing .04 cents on the lot, but to go to 2.09 I would make .08, and that would bother me) 5 bits are spoken for, so there`s 7 left if anyone is interested. REMEMBER $2.08 is for a SINGLE BIT
Uggghhh, I forgot my postage stamp, and the cost of the money order !!!

Simply drop the $2.00 from the $2.08 eat the money for the stamp and you'll feel real good about yourself an probably sleep good too. Count me in.

I would never expect such a nice cheerful guy to have to eat the cost of the drain plug bit. In fact I'd even be willing to offer some coffee and cigg coupons on top of the entire cost.

I`ll try and be real quiet, it`s so quiet around here I hate to wake anybody. Anyway, the bits came in today. I`ll go thru my mail and previous posts to see who wanted one. They are indeed "Bonney", Nice quality. Not some knock off junk. Packaging is kinda cool, almost hate to tear them out of the shrink wrap. They do fit the drain plug nice & snug. They are 1/2" drive I checked on shipping, put one in a small manila envelope, post office says $ 2.12 ?? There`s got to be a cheaper way, Any ideas?

That dosent sound unreasonable. Under 5 bucks for a 1/2 bit. I couldnt get a single TORX bit from Sears for that price, they just charged me 26.99 for a fuel shut off valve for my Pressure Washer.
