Your car is the same model as mine. A Cutlass 442 sport coupe (AKA a post car).

Like chadman said. But if you want like the official designation it would be;
1965 Oldsmobile F-85 Sports Coupe with the Cutlass Option package. Your VIN should start with; 33827

Ya know, I don`t get it ! I JUST DONT GET IT !!! Some guys will spend hours, and hours, researching parts, picking interior colors, deciding what style rim/tire to use. BUT, when it comes to "trivial" things, like what kinda car do I have, they head straight for the key board. BR[] & "Z" must have skin like an armadillo ! After all the work, for years of compiling information. Jeeeeeeeez, it`s just crazy! Just go look !!!!! 442restoration.homestead.com/AccCiphers.htmlaliquippaoutlaws.homestead.com/DATAPLATE.htmlAnd don`t stop at these two pages, there`s SEVERAL informative stops to make both here and on Z`s site

Right you are 33827 and the mystery 3D also 3D number in the top left corner of the data tag should be 03D and it is a build date code. 03D; 03 = March - D = 4th week of the month.

Ya know, I don`t get it ! I JUST DONT GET IT !!! I do because I do it too sometimes. You're in the middle of something and a question pops into the old noggin and you post on a forum where you get the answer quickly. I have no problem looking for the answer on my own when I have the time later in the day possibly, or whenever. It's not a slight to all the hard work Bro, Jasen, or anyone has done.

Or is it like the 6th. tag down on this page 442restoration.homestead.com/AccCiphers.htmlLINE #3 "D" ? Nother reason to research for yourself, your the only one that knows where the "3D" is. And are you referring to someone in particular as a DUMBASS? or that the question is DUMBASS? I`d agree, for sure, the question is.

Right you are 33827 and the mystery 3D also Read over the entire post again, makes me think, by you referring to the "3D" as a "mystery", you are talking about line #3, and "D" being unconfirmed, or unknown, leads me to believe you have visited BR[]`s site. So why the original question?

Did you hop on this thread just to vent? I have been on several sites reading information, where I was getting confused was the multiple names the car has been called, f-85, coupe, sports coupe, post car, etc etc. All I was asking for was a little clarification. I didnt mean to ruffle any ones feathers. Isnt that what forums are all about, advice, clarification, help, ideas etc? As far as the mystery 3D

As far as the mystery 3D To be quite frank with you, there is so much NON searching going on, it is a little like throwing shit around. It`s not like this is the first time I`ve ranted about people not doing there own leg work, I`ve been on this subject before. I`ve been chastised for it before, my guess I`ll be again. Your original question could have come with a simple search ON THIS FORUM, using "33827" google, BR[]`s all the same. Rather than just rant and piss and moan, I at least inserted click-able links for you. Or would you rather I copy/paste the entire page for you. It`s not "3D" It`s column 3, accessory letter "D" 3D is a visual effect. And your absolutely correct, this is a place for advice, help, clarification, ideas etc. My advice has been given, I helped you with links that offer clarification. As far as ideas, I have no idea how to convince some of you the importance, or self satisfaction, of doing things for yourself.

I for one don't mind at all that you asked a question that could have been answered by using the search function. I mean come on, their are threads that have had their last post three weeks ago on the front page of this section so what does it hurt? If you don't like the question he asked just skip over it and don't answer. Pretty simple.

The small membership, low traffic, makes it a little more laid back. I belong to another forum that has over 345,000 members, there are over a million threads, the traffic varies depending on the time of day, but this morning there's been a new post every 53 seconds. On this site, posting without first searching the site is grounds for flogging !! Actually several have been temporarily banned for abusing the search first agreement. It`s just common courtesy to other members not to clog up the board with repetitious posts. But here I guess it`s acceptable since there`s nothing else going on. I myself get a feel of accomplishment figuring things out for myself, I guess others are satisfied having things handed to them with little or no effort on there part. The internet has made information gathering effortless compared to years ago. It used to be when you needed to figure something out, you were in your garage doing it until you got it right. There was no computer to run to for advice. So for me, I`ll continue using my garage as my first line for information/education, the computer will remain my last resort. For others, I guess, the keyboard will be there security blanket. With that said, I guess this ol` dog should crawl back in his dog house

You still seem to be missing the point that in this particular case I did search, I did go to several informative sites. I come up with several different "terms" that could or did apply to my specific car. Maybe I worded it poorly but I was confused as to which particular "term" applied to my car, and come to find out it was all the above. I agree there are questions asked that are covered over and over on this forum, I try to use the search function before asking anything and if I dont understand or its unclear then I ask. I have a hard time understanding how going my garage to do it right will help me answer the original question. Unless I had my significant other in the garage also, then I would stay there and do it until I got it right! ;D ;D

A couple things come to mind on this...
1) if we used the search function more, we'd have less posts. And haven't we been talking about expanding the year models we cover in this forum to get more activity (which means more posts)? Without posting and answering things that have been covered previously, this forum would be pretty quiet.
2) But more importantly, asking the question educates more than the asker of the question. I may never have a need to look up the topic someone posts, but when they ask it, I'll read it, and all the responses, and more often than not I learn something. Would I have gone in search of the answers on the web or on Ramz's or Bro's websites, probably not. But I'll read the posts, and usually come away with more understanding than I would have if the original poster would have just searched for the answer on the internet.

O.K., I realize I`m in the minority here. Truth be told, I probably have more spare time than anyone else here, I spend my time on several other sites, reading mostly, occasionally posting. Who else would see a topic on the mechanics of a horn ( honk, honk type horn) and rush to the garage to tear one apart to show how it works? w29.boards.net/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=3563&page=1I enjoy researching, reading, and if possible helping out. I agree I sometimes get just a "little" carried away. I`ve seen several posts that have been brought up several times, I normally skip over them thinking someone will jump in. But what troubled me about Marks question, was the question was answered, but without any back up documentation. A link to the source would have given him confirmation. AND it would have given others the source for questions they might have. I guess I`m talking in circles here, but I feel we need good reliable sources for information, and we have them, we just don`t use them to there potential. Depending on your "needs" you will NOT find more complete, and concise information on 65 a body olds than right here, and Z`s site, and BR[]`s site. I`ve been to the other sites, several times. THERE IS NO COMPARISON, PERIOD ! Mark, as to my going to my garage to find the info on your original post, I could have, my library is quite extensive. But I knew from previous visits to BR[]`s the exact button to click on. And getting your wife in the garage? Cool ! Goose, you`ve got good points, and I have to admit to 2) as being sensible. And by the way, ever get your horn(s) working? And I see the dragsta vert still has the raised engine goin on. Were going to have to agree to disagree on this, for sanity sake. When searching for info, stay away from the wanna bees, stick with our guys. If what they have to say doesn`t give you that warm fuzzy feeling, then toss it out on here so we can all have a go at it. Mark, good to hear you did your due diligence by searching. one thing to remember, too much searching can get confusing. Just because it`s in print doesn`t make it so. I know a lot of folks that develop an ailment and head for the internet, bad choice, by the time they see there doctor the`ve already put in an order for a pine box. guess I`ve bla, bla, bla`d enough

Postcar... don't want to derail this particular posts topic... but no... still haven't paid attention to the horns. It's on the list. I have spent the last few days with the "Dragsta Vert" getting it ready enough for the Friday night cruise-in in Auburn (Indiana). It's an annual event that coincides with the Auburn Auto Auction, now managed by Auctions America (formerly the Kruse Auto Auction). This will be "Drasta Vert" first public unveiling, and I'm pretty excited about it.
And yeah... the engine still sits in it's same spot. Once I get around to checking angles, I may have to make some adjustments. The mounts I have won't go any lower, and the pan doesn't have too much clearance left to the sub-frame. So if the angle is poor, I may have to work the adjustment with the transmission mount. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Honestly... this is a fantastically educational site. Postcar... you provide a lot of valuable insight... and much more than superficial information. And I always appreciate the effort you put into all you share. I personally don't mind seeing a repeat topic. More than likely the information didn't sink in with me the first time either. Don't they say education comes with repetition?
