The thread about wiper motors just jogged my memory. I have the older 1-speed. Question: is it supposed to bring the wipers down after you shut it off? Mine doesn't. If so, possible cause?

Believe it or not..a bad wiper motor to body ground can cause that very problem.

There is a park mechanism that is part of the wiper motor. If this is not actuating the POINTS inside this area, the wipers will shut off as soon as the switch is turned off. This has electro magnets and those magnets move little control arms that then set in motion the park sequence......accomplished by offsetting the rotation of the wiper arm motion.
