Okay Guys, here's the finished product....finished it up this week. For you purists, I know she ain't original, but I gotta say I feel pretty proud she's even roadworthy again!

Looks like She's ready for the strip. What did you have to do to prep the bumpers for paint?

It'll probably never see the strip...except from the spectator parking lot, but I wanted it to look like that. Really, the bumpers were no big deal, the fiberglass accepted paint better than the metal. I just filled what minor discrepencies there were, sanded them with wet 800 grit, primed them and painted them. First fiberglass pieces I've ever painted.

Thanks, guys, I've spent 3 1/2 years getting this thing back in one piece again..had to alter my course a couple of times....occasionally wondering if it was worth saving. But now, I believe it WAS worth it. Paint is a 3-stage paint with a silver underbase, gold and silver pearl in the color, and then clearcoat. Having never done that before, I wasn't sure I could make it look right...took a lot of time....but time doesn't cost anything, except sore muscles. I drove it on the street this morning for the first time...455 has plenty of umph for an old guy!

Geez, shane, I don't know if I have that much trust in the guy who built it to take it that far!

The wheels are 15" American Eagles. I put 7's on the front and 8's on the rear.

I took it to the alignment shop yesterday....drove pretty good, for just using a builder's square and a tape measure to rough-in the front wheels...but after it was aligned, it drove great, and rode great!

Where do you get the bumpers and how they fit?

Where do you get the bumpers and how they fit? The bumpers are made by a company called Glastek.......they sell 'glass hoods, bumpers, fenders, etc. Essentially, they're racing bumpers, but have enough resiliance, I believe they will last. You have to use bumper bolts. As far as fit, they fit the car fine, really pretty good replicas of the originals....even come with bosses for the park/backup lights. The rear bumper went on without a hitch, but the front one doesn't have the bracket which is welded to the original front bumpers, so you have to make a bracket to bridge the space between the bumper and the original mount arms.

Just following up on finishing my project....I've got about 100 miles on it now, which isn't anything big but I haven't had any problems with parts falling off it yet, so there's goodness there. Car rides and drives like a new one, quiet inside, pipes just the right loudness, motor is smooth with loads of low end. The only thing that didn't work was my Dolphin speedometer, but removing the cable from the transmission revealed I hadn't installed the speedo gear. Geez, what a difference a little gear can make, huh? I've been three years and two months refurbing this thing, and I wondered more than once if it was worth saving, but now that it's finished, I'm thinking that it was.
