I guess I should just make one thread for a few updates as I go along rather than crowd the boards with many short threads. I'm still in the middle of the P/S swap that also turned into an intake swap (since I was there and all ) I did get a good mock up and was able to get my belt lengths that I will need to order back in Jan lol. It has turned out good so far, but I am not a fan of the P/S hoses. The "new" Torker is at the machine shop waiting to be cut. Before the P/S swap started I decided to go ahead and set the valve lash for the upcoming season before bolting an alternator bracket over the valve cover. After a quick test drive I found both valve covers cracked at the flanges. I think it was a mixture of the cold temperatures, new gaskets, a heavy hand, previous repairs at the flange, etc. that caused them to crack. Lesson learned. I was able to round up another set and just got them back from having some baffled breather tubes welded on. I will need to shorten the tubes before I paint them and get them on the car. The dog dish caps are coming along nice as well. I will give them a little more massaging before a final good polish and paint. Anyway cruise-in weather is finally back and I need to get this car going again!

For you guys that are good with photoshop, could you give me a hand with these next pics please. I'm trying to get a good idea which way I should go with some steel wheels and the small caps. Body color or black? ?

Small caps are always body color, black was for full hubcaps.

I'm straight down I-40 from you in Mocksville. About 1-1/2hr drive. If you can have your car ready for the autofair, I might be able yo get you a spot with the group I was parked with last fall. How far are you from Pilot Mt.?

Body color or black? ? Is that the factory color? Is it Ocean mist? What is the color code? The wheels look good with the chrome!!

The car has been repainted and the color seems to match very well in the jams and trunk. There is a slight amount of pearl in the clear coat. I don't recall the color code.
Thanks. The wheels are Wheel Vintique SSIII's. They really are a beautiful wheel and deserve new center caps.

I think body color would look great. IMO black would take away from the beautiful paint job.

Intake is back from the machine shop. It took two trips (cuts) and $150 to get this thing to sit right. The proper length bolts are almost impossible to install at the 1,2,7,8 intake runners, but they clear after finagling them in for a 1/4". Painted and ready to install when the gaskets finally show up. Geeeeeze, this intake swap is killing me at the rate of about $375 so far......for a used intake I also got a little farther on the valve covers and upper alternator bracket is cut so I can run this ridiculous intake. Gotta love it.

Make sure the carb flange gasket fits properly with that Torker. Not all gaskets are wide enough to completely reach the edge of the flange at the secondaries, which could leave you with a vacuum leak. Holley gaskets weren't wide enough. I ended up making one, and ordered an Edelbrock gasket, which fit well.

I'll check for that mongoose, thanks for the tip. I generally use the stock style thick gasket as long as I have hood clearance. I have had the secondary blades stick open on the thick gaskets before causing a high idle, so I will check for both. Thanks again.

Intake is on, valve covers painted and installed, alternator/brackets and related bs on, and belts. A few more little things and I can fire this thing back up.

SWEET!
How long did it take you to get the rubber balls off the quarter and fender well? Or did you leave it there as a trophy? ;D

I left it in the fender wells and it wiped right off of the quarters. Up until about a month ago you could still smell it pretty strong in the garage if the car sat for more than a few days lol. It was a blast.
