I thought I would restore it once. Until about 6 years ago when I got my Cutlass.

Wow, I could have used that radiator support!! The pics make it look better than it really is. What's left is pretty rotted.

That's a real '64 442??? Yep. I posted pics of the frame last year or the year before. It just needed too much. The floor were all shot, the windshield and back glass frames were rotted all the way around even the top. The quarters were bad. When I got it it had no drivetrain and one of the previous owners converted it to auto and hacked off the crossbar for the pedals so you couldn't even put a clutch pedal back on. Even the firewall was rotted at the seam. I tried to save it and was gathering parts before I got my Cutlass, but it's just beyond reasonable help. It would nearly have to be a rebody. I did pull the steering column after this pic was taken. I saved the fenders, hood, doors and trunklid. The manual steeing box, and trans crossmember are in my Cutlass now.

Well, at least some parts of it will still live on. It's a shame for such a low number production car and also the fact that the '64 442's are the grandaddy of them all. R.I.P. I really wonder how many (genuine) '64 442's are still left. There's a '64 vert 442 on ebay now... cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-Oldsmobile-Cutlass-Supreme-442-Convertible-Restored-and-VERY-RARE-/380554210298?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item589acc6bfa

I have one of them The one on ebay is supposedly the real deal and purchased off ebay in the early 2000's. 64b09 had one, but now in the scrap yard. crh on this site has one, Ron on CO has one, another non-member in WI has a vert but it has a salvage title and Elcamino frame do to rot. There's a couple other I know of across the country. I would put the known number in the 10's or 20's

The car I picked up in August (advertised as a 442 clone) turned out to be a real one based on the information provide by members on this site regarding special frame characteristics and number stamped on left rear frame rail. I haven't found any build sheets. Fremont built.

I had one in Rockford Illinois that is still supposed to be around and there is a restored one in Rockford. He was at Byron a few years back.

Well, at least this one is in a shop as opposed to sitting in the back 40 somewhere. Looks like it has a nice dash as well, hard to tell for sure, but... I also like the "period" paint job.
