Crap, now I'm sanding every bolt nut and washer...... . Your not far off I was sand blasting every bolt and washer too but then I got a wire wheel on the bench grinder and it went alot faster. You might want to give it a shot it saves alot of time.

Good old west coast humidity and rain...Im suprised you didnt have a fire. Never seen a circuit board in such bad shape.

same here! it must have gotten in by the windshield, the board absorbes moisture and swells, corrodes.I have seen them outside that looked better! As Scotty said, good thing there was no fire! or that anything worked! ---bil

And dont let all the rot discourage you...panel replacement is fun and you get to learn as you go. As for the circuit board Im sure someone here can scare up a good one for you for a reasonable price..

yep it was leaking at the windsheild, those pins are barely holding on, the rot isnt as bad as it looks, i guess when the carpet got wet the humidity got in everywhere andleft a haze of rust everywhere. lots more wire wheel and por 15. just cleaning it up

more progress, mostly wire wheeling and sanding hidden rust behind tailpanel thought this was a rust free hood? almost parts car gave up a sweet a pillar cover, found another today localy off a buick $45 patch over a patch cant seem to sand off the paint on top of the hood, like its baked on or something. 8" 40 grit hardly touches it, but if you hand rub it it scratches through almost right away? should the hood be reglued to the substructure? maybe a dab of expanding foam? it sticks to anything drivers fender was welded to the car at the rocker note the stack of shims held in place with a wood screw, then welded together explains why the headlite trim didnt fit rite, also why i couldnt see at nite

Aren't these quick jobs a ball, always something new, keep it up Stan. You know how it goes, the more you dig the deeper the hole gets.

For all those parts that come off the car, I have a guy here in Cleveland that does acid dipping and paint and rust removal. You could put your whole car in the tub if you wanted to. Benefits: comes out super clean, eats all the paint and rust, no sanding, no labor, no sanding marks,no sanding material costs and so on. Down side? Somewhat pricey, but take out materials and time and I bet it's worth it!!!

we had one of those here years ago, redi strip it was called. no idea where they are now. it was the cats ass, unless you had a lot of rust then your car fell apart

Everybody's progress makes me sick!
Stan and Robski are setting a pace I just can't keep up with. I'm happy for everyone who is making progress...and wish I were there too.
I have been accused of being slower than a Disabled Vets Day parade - maybe thats the problem...
