Nobody willing to say whether $650 is reasonable for: "basket style" 14" wheel covers (8-9cond) 7X14" steel rims w/ Dunlop 225 tires w/ 2500 mi tach (cond 9) ?? Ralph

Nobody willing to say whether $650 is reasonable for: "basket style" 14" wheel covers (8-9cond) 7X14" steel rims w/ Dunlop 225 tires w/ 2500 mi tach (cond 9) ?? I'm not sure what you mean by "basket style" wheel covers? If you mean wire spinners, that I get, or if you used the option code, that would work as well, but basket style I'd need more info. I’ve seen decent sets of spinners go for as high as $300 on their own. The standard wheel covers I wouldn’t pay more than $50 for a set, but then again I have a set and don’t need any. Regular steel wheels that are used are not worth much. They can be picked up at any junk yard for scrap metal prices. The tires, $650 is probably a decent price, but are they Red Lines? I always use this rule of thumb when buying used parts. If it is something that I really want and have been looking for awhile and can't find the item, then I usually buy them the first chance I get. However, if the parts is the kind of item that comes up for sale frequently, then I hold out for the right price and condition. You can always try and make the guy an offer of $550 and see what happens. If he doesn't take it then you can just take everything at the price he is listing them for.

8-)Thanks 4 the input so far! To be specific: 1) The wheel covers are the original spinners (14"), so I'd need 14" rims for them. 2) The rims aren't the "R" code, they're 14X7" with 225-14 tires with 2500 mi on them. That would at least allow me to run an almost original appearance at meets. 3) The tach is a condition 9+, which is a lot better than mine (probably ~7). From what you're saying, it's probably a realistic price- right? Ralph

8-)From what you're saying, it's probably a realistic price- right? Ralph: I would have to say that for all the items you listed that it is a fair price, provided that the wire wheel covers are in the condition that you state. The price might be a little on the high side, that's why I suggested making the seller an offer of $100 less. Have you priced out the tires by themselves? I'm haven't priced out that size or brand so I don't know if they are $55 tires, or $95 tires. To me the value is in the wire wheel covers and the tires, everything else isn't much of a big ticket item. Tachs and regular steel wheels aren't worth all that much. For me, they don't even make up $100 of the total of the asking price. Just my opinion,

Get a good look at the caps. They are 45 years old and only the best condition caps are worth the money he is asking. Tachs go for 50 to 100 bucks on ebay.

Only tachs I've seen go for $100 are when to guys are bidding don't know when to stop. There are too many of those tachs to pay that much for my tastes. Might because I have a few hanging around, but they come up for auction all the time.
